I hope every single one of you is doing whatever they possibly can to help STOP this virus. Please practice personal hygiene and wash your hands throughout the day. A good thorough wash and then disinfect with hand sanitizer. Please stay inside and in your home as much as is humanly possible. Only leave if you need to get your essentials. Practice social distancing as much as you possibly can whenever you are out of your abode.
Now onto business.
As many of you are aware, Rue Morgue Records is (for now) an online record store. We do not have a physical location. I am reminding people of this because I have been asked many, many times throughout the course of this virulent disaster we are going through, if Rue Morgue Records is closing.
No. HELL NO! We are not. The thought has not even entered my mind.
We are in a position to continue our business the same as it was before.
That is not to say we are not taking precautions. All stock that comes into HQ is disinfected immediately. Most, if not all, the records are sealed so they are wiped down as best as we can before they are placed in our storage and again before being sent out to our customer base! You wonderful people you!
Although things have slowed down, we still have had a steady flow of sales which is keeping us going.
Let me tell you a thing about how Rue Morgue Records operates. In our short history, every single solitary cent that we make, goes straight back into the business. All of it. With the small profit that we make, we buy additional stock. This keeps us afloat and builds up the catalogue of stuff that we can get and stock. Our aim when this is all over, is to set up a physical store which you can come and visit. We will start of humble and small but we will expand when time and budget allows. We won’t take unnecessary risks. Not now, not ever.
So please, continue to buy your records from us. We will move heaven and earth to get your music to you as fast as possible in a safe and sound manner.
Thank you!
What’s happening with the Compilation?
The compilation is with the various pressing plants we are using for the LP, the CD and the cassette.
The CD and cassette are done. Finished. The LP (coloured vinyl, black vinyl and picture disc) were all set to be in my hands in the middle of April. They were to be posted to you all at that time.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the pressing plant is working on a part time basis and our release has been pushed back into the latter half of May. Honestly, it is a minor set-back and completely out of our control but we will do whatever we possibly can to speed things up if at all possible.
I have physically held and seen a test pressing of the vinyl and the cover and all the other goodies that come with this release and I did so with tears in my eyes. It has turned out FUCKING AMAZING and is probably the BEST local release I have ever seen. It is superb. You will be blown away.
I implore you to be a little more patient. I also implore you to grab yourself a copy if you do not have one already. There are about 40 of the coloured vinyl left and 50 of the picture disc (non limited edition version).
