Snoop Dogg’s The Jamaican Episode finally gets the wax treatment it deserves, and the result is as smooth and swagger-filled as you’d hope. Originally recorded at Jamaica’s iconic Reggae Sumfest in 2001, this live album captures Snoop at his peak — laid-back, charismatic, and in total command of a crowd that clearly loves him.
Pressed on translucent purple vinyl for Record Store Day 2025, this limited edition feels more like a celebration than a reissue. The packaging is clean and premium, with a bold OBI strip and printed inner sleeve that nod to both Snoop’s G-funk legacy and the Jamaican setting of the show.
Musically, it’s a greatest-hits parade — “Gin and Juice,” “Murder Was the Case,” “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang,” “Still a G Thang,” and more — all performed with the kind of loose confidence only Snoop can pull off. Highlights include the reggae-infused crowd interactions and a surprisingly soulful delivery of “Lodi Dodi.”
The remastering here is solid — the beats thump, the vocals cut through, and the crowd noise feels present without being overbearing. It’s raw, fun, and nostalgic in the best way possible.
