Public Image Ltd (PiL) is set to release the long-lost alternative US mix of their 1978 debut album, First Issue, as a special edition for Record Store Day 2025 on April 12.Â
Background:
Originally, PiL’s First Issue faced challenges with its US release. Warner Bros. Records deemed the album’s sound too unconventional for the American market and requested re-recordings of certain tracks. Between March and May 1979, the band produced alternative versions, but this edition was ultimately shelved and remained unreleased—until now.Â
