Cradle of Filth, the renowned English extreme metal band, is set to release their 14th studio album, The Screaming of the Valkyries, on March 21, 2025, via Napalm Records. This album encapsulates the essence of their earlier works while venturing into new musical territories.
The album was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk, England. It features frontman Dani Filth’s distinctive vocals, complemented by the twin guitar dynamics of Marek “Ashok” Šmerda and Donny Burbage, symphonic elements from keyboardist/vocalist Zoe Federoff, and the robust rhythm section comprising drummer Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka and bassist Daniel Firth.
The lead single, “To Live Deliciously,” delves into themes of life’s celebration and indulgence, free from societal constraints. Dani Filth describes it as embracing life unfettered by “the conformities of religion, fashion or state.” Musically, the album draws inspiration from classic records like Dusk… and Her Embrace and Cruelty and the Beast, while integrating elements from more recent releases such as Hammer of the Witches and Existence Is Futile. Tracks like “White Hellebore” showcase a blend of traditional heavy metal with thrashing intensity, and “Non Omnis Moriar” (“I shall not wholly die”) presents one of the band’s most poignant melodies to date.
The Screaming of the Valkyries will be available in various formats, including CD Digisleeve, multiple vinyl editions, and special bundles featuring exclusive merchandise. Pre-orders are currently open through Napalm Records’ official website.
In support of the album, Cradle of Filth will co-headline the 2025 North American Chaos & Carnage tour alongside Dying Fetus, featuring acts like Fleshgod Apocalypse and Ne Obliviscaris. The tour kicks off on April 17, 2025, in Berkeley, California.
