1982’s ‘The Litanies of Satan’ has been remastered for the updated release
Diamanda Galás is reissuing her debut album.
Originally released on Y Records in 1982, The Litanies of Satan has been remastered for its updated release and will be made available on vinyl, CD and digital formats via Diamanda Galás‘ own Intravenal Sound Operations label. It also comes with the original artwork.
This is the first release in a planned series of reissues of Galás’ work with plans coming about after she regained ownership and control of her entire back catalogue last year. It follows her decision to make her back catalogue available on all major streaming services for the first time in April 2019.
Diamanda Galás‘ self-titled 1984 album has also been remastered and will be given reissued in autumn of this year, while Intravenal Sound Operations will release the reissue of The Litanies of Satan on May 1.
Along with the reissue, Diamanda Galás has new music coming soon.
According to a press release, Galás will release a new 21-minute solo piano piece called Deformation in July.
Galás, in the press release, described Deformation as “a march and delivery of maimed and infected soldiers to hospitals and industrial warehouses throughout Germany during and after the First World War.” She added, “In the hospitals the maimed would receive experimental operations and the infected would be confined to protect the mental well-being and physical health of the citizens of the State.”
Rue Morgue Records will of course be stocking this and all releases of Diamanda Galás.
